•Bachelor’s Degree in in Law or equivalent field.
2. Work Experience, Key Skills & Competencies:
• 1-3 years of experience in legal within banking, financial services, or a law firm with banking clients.
• Solid understanding of banking laws, commercial law, and contract law.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• High attention to detail, discretion, and professional judgment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Khmer, Chinese & English.
Job Purpose
The Senior Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal support to the bank by reviewing contracts, advising on regulatory and legal risks, and ensuring the bank’s operations are compliant with applicable laws and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in managing legal documentation, mitigating legal exposure, and supporting the bank’s business activities with sound legal guidance.
Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory
• Provide day-to-day legal advice to internal departments on banking operations, lending, customer relationships, and general business matters.
• Support business units in launching new products and services by reviewing legal implications and regulatory requirements.
2. Contract Management
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including vendor contracts, service agreements, customer terms, loan agreements, Non-disclosure/Confidentiality agreement.
• Maintain a centralized contract repository and track contract renewals and obligations.
3. Regulatory Support
• Ensure the bank’s activities comply with banking laws, corporate governance requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the banking industry and advise stakeholders on potential impacts.
4. Dispute Resolution & Litigation
• Support the management of litigation and dispute matters in coordination with external counsel.
• Assist in preparing legal responses to customer complaints, regulatory inquiries, or internal investigations.
5. Internal Coordination
• Work closely with compliance, risk, operations, and business units to ensure legal risks are identified and mitigated early.
• Support the legal team in creating and updating internal legal templates, policies, and procedures.
